A group of 16 year 8 students took part in the prestigious UK Mathematics Trust Junior Maths Challenge. This is a competition which encourages students to use their Mathematics skills to think a little outside of the curriculum and maybe outside their comfort zone!

They are given 25 ever more challenging  questions in a one hour test during which they cannot use a calculator - everything is worked out using just a pencil and paper. The completed papers are sent to UKMT to be marked and our results came back last week.

All of our students did well but many students did so well that they were awarded certificates which were presented to them by Mr Kerfoot. Emmanuel, Yusuf, Filip M, Nathan and Zhixin receive a Bronze certificate, Luke, Kenzie Lee and Isobell are awarded Silver certificates and Filip M has done so well that he receives a Gold certificate and is invited to enter the next round of the competition, the Junior Kangaroo, next month. The next UKMT competition will be the Senior Maths Challenge in November.
